چکیده

∗Heisenberg-Fellow hadronic fluctuations (“resolved”). Direct and resolved interactions can be separated by measuring the fraction xγ of the photon’s momentum participating in the hard interaction for the two photons. In γγ interactions they are labelled xγ for the two photons. Ideally, the direct γγ events with two bare photons are expected to have xγ = 1 and x − γ = 1, whereas for double-resolved events both values xγ and xγ are expected to be much smaller than one. In photoproduction, the interaction of a bare photon with the proton is labelled ‘direct’ (corresponding to ‘single-resolved’ in γγ) and the interaction of a hadronic photon is called ‘resolved’ (corresponding to ‘double-resolved’ in γγ).

Jet Photoproduction in Peripheral Heavy-Ion Collisions

In peripheral relativistic heavy ion collisions at the Large Hadron Collider, jet+jet and photon+jet final states can be produced when a photon from the virtual photon field surrounding the nucleus interacts with a parton in the opposite nucleus (direct production). The virtual photon may also fluctuate into states with multiple gluons and qq pairs (resolved production), opening more channels f...

Charmonium production in two-photon collisions at next-to-leading order

We review recent results on the production of prompt charmonium in association with a hadron jet or a prompt photon in two-photon collisions at next-to-leading order in the factorization framework of nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics.

High pT Probes of Dense Matter Created in Heavy Ion Collisions at RHIC

An overview of recent high-pT hadron and photon measurements at RHIC is presented with a focus on the evolution of hadron/photon production from intermediate pT (. 5 GeV/c) to high pT (> 10 GeV/c). Addressed topics include single high-pT hadron production, azimuthal anisotropy of π production, di-jet modification at intermediate pT and inclusive photon-hadron correlations. The understanding of ...

Photon isolation effects at NLO in γγ+jet final states in hadronic collisions

We present the NLO QCD corrections to pp → j production at hadron colliders. Our calculation includes contributions from the fragmentation of a hadronic jet into a highly energetic photon, and consequently allows the implementation of arbitrary infrared-safe photon isolation definitions. We compare different photon isolation criteria and perform a detailed study of the dependence of the j c...

PHOTOPRODUCTION OFF NUCLEI AND POINT-LIKE PHOTON INTERACTIONS Part II: Particle Production

High energy multiparticle photoproduction off nuclear targets is studied. The photon is assumed to interact in direct scattering processes or as a resolved qq̄-state according to the Generalized Vector Dominance Model. In the description of resolved interactions multiple soft and hard processes in each qq̄-nucleon interaction are taken into consideration. The model, formulated within the framewor...

‘qcd in Hadron-hadron Collisions

Quantum Chromodynamica provides a good description of many aspects of high energy hadron-badron collisions, and this will be described, along with some aspects that are not yet understood in QCD. Topics include high ET jet production, direct photon, W, 2, and heavy flavor production, rapidity gaps, and hard diffraction. *Supported by DOE contract through Fermilab contracts. @ 1996 by Michael G....
